Coastal Towns
- Front gardens facing the North Sea...
Most summer cottage areas are situated along the North Sea coast in places like Vrist,
Langerhuse and Vejlby Klit, which is the largest cottage area in the region.
On the train line connecting Lemvig and Thyborøn there is a halt in Vejlby called Victoria Street Station. Nearby you will also find a supermarket, a café and a restaurant and a summer park offering midget golf, motocross and horse rental.
In Langerhuse you may visit Flyvholm Life Saving Station, which has been converted into a museum exhibiting a lifeboat and various kinds of gear.
In Harboøre, a relatively large town in the area, the church is worth a visit.
The tombstones in the cemetery bear witness to the many people from this area who have been lost in accidents at sea down through the ages.
If you visit Harboøre at the start of June, remember Haze over Haarum, a big three-day music festival held just outside the town.
South of Ferring Lake, in Ferring/Bovbjerg, stands the Lighthouse of Bovbjerg, the local landmark, where you may go to see successive exhibitions of works by local artists. You may
also visit the top of the tower and enjoy the magnificent view.
Ferring is also where Jens Søndergård Museet is situated. Having belonged to the Danish
painter Jens Søndergaard years back, the house is now a museum exhibiting a fine collection of
the artist’s marine paintings and paintings with different kinds of subjects from the area.
To the south of the lighthouse and near the very popular beach Breakwater Q, Trans and
Fjaltring are situated.
In the Municipality of Lemvig, Fjaltring is known as the creative corner where you may visit Kulturcentret Tuskær (Cultural Centre Tuskær) and the Tukak Theatre. The population
in Fjaltring is around 350, and the village has its own Free School, a hostel run by the inhabitants and a very well-assorted grocery.
