A Guide for Disabled People

- Access for everybody

The town of Lemvig is situated in an area marked by glacial valleys following the last ice age. Surrounded by three steep hillsides called Vesterbjerg, Sønderbjerg and Østerbjerg, the town extends up the hills. This location means that there are steep streets and a number of stairs in the town. Nevertheless, there is access for wheelchair users in most places.

At the tourist office you can get a brochure containing information about sights, places of accommodation and restaurants with wheelchair access. We will also be happy to send the brochure to you at your home address, in case you would like to prepare your stay here in advance.

In the Lemvig area, the accessibility for wheelchair users and visually impaired or hearing-impaired people is constantly being improved, so if you have comments or suggestions, please let us know.

On the beach
If you want to go to the beach, there are two obvious places. At Fjaltring, Breakwater Q, there are toilet facilities suitable for disabled persons. The beach is also equipped with a ramp designed to take wheel chairs all the way down to the breakwater. This might well be the most popular beach in the area.

The beach at Vinkelhage, only a short distance to the north of Lemvig (by the camp site and the marina), is also very suitable for disabled people. There is a parking lot close to the beach.

Horseriding
South of Lemvig at Bækmarksbro, you will find Nørre Holmgaard, a riding school for disabled people. The school offers riding and rents a holiday apartment that is very suitable for disabled people.

Angling
If you feel like angling, there are really good possibilities at Dollemosen in Klosterheden, the large plantation south-east of Lemvig. There are two bridges designed to allow wheelchair users to angle in the lake.
